The Lost Dice Code of Conduct

All those who visit ‘The Lost Dice’ have a right to;

  • Equal and fair treatment from the staff and other patrons.

  • Participate in an environment free from harassment and discrimination.

  • Patrons are encouraged to speak to staff regarding any issues or complaints they may have with another patron or staff member. All complaints will be handled with discretion.

All those who visit The Lost Dice must:

  • Treat other patrons and staff equally, fairly and with courtesy.

    • Varying degrees of experience with a game must be respected. Some players may be slow or make errors while learning.

    • Be aware of others playing in the space. Be aware of noise levels and allow others to move freely within The Lost Dice.

  • Not physically or verbally harass other patrons or staff.

    • Harassment of any form is not tolerated and may result in being asked to leave. Harassment includes that which occurs ‘in-character’.

    • The threat of, or actual violence will result in expulsion.

    • Ongoing unwelcome sexual attention (verbal or physical) is not tolerated and will result in expulsion.

  • Behave responsibly.

  • All minors must have adult supervision.

  • Not record or photograph any players without their consent.

  • Play ‘in the spirit of the game’. Demonstrate fair play on and off the table.

The Lost Dice members must;

  • Not abuse membership privileges by allowing others to use their membership.

  • Act respectfully during special members-only events.

How to report an issue;

  • If you are subject to or witness unacceptable behaviour or have any other concerns, please notify a staff member as soon as possible or use our contact form.

  • All reports will be handled with discretion.

  • When notifying a staff member, please advise us of your contact information (optional), the names of those involved and any additional patrons who witnessed the event.

  • We will ask for your version of events, whether it is ongoing and ask that you provide any other information you believe is relevant.

  • The Lost Dice will then review the incident, advise you of the decision and proposed response.

  • If the complaint is against a staff member, they will not be involved in the handling of the incident.

  • The Lost Dice will assist with any interactions with local law enforcement.

What happens in the case of a breach of the above;

  • The Lost Dice management maintains the right to ask a patron to leave The Lost Dice premises. In the case that a patron is asked to leave, they have the right to ask for the reasons for their expulsion.

  • In the case that a complaint is received, staff will attempt to arbitrate the situation, if appropriate.

  • The Lost Dice maintains the right to determine the best course of action in resolving grievances. This may take the form of a warning, a private apology (if the parties agree), expulsion, contacting the police, or if it is determined that no violation has occurred - no action may be taken.

  • After (3) warnings, a patron may be excluded from attending The Lost Dice for a period determined by management. If a paying member is excluded, they forfeit any remaining membership duration.
